Sig P320
Modular striker-fired 9mm. Adopted by the U.S. Army as the M17/M18.
See tag in graph →The **Sig Sauer P320** is a modular striker-fired pistol adopted by the U.S. Army in 2017 as the **M17** (full size) and **M18** (carry). Its defining feature is a serialized fire control unit (FCU) that swaps between grip modules, slide/barrel lengths, and calibers — one gun, many configurations.
The modularity makes the P320 unusually flexible: a single pistol can be a full-size duty gun, a compact carry gun, and a subcompact backup depending on which parts are installed. It's also a pistol with a complicated recent history around drop-safety, which generated a voluntary upgrade program in 2017 and continues to generate discussion.
For most buyers the modularity is a feature they never use, but the P320 itself is a capable, ergonomic, broadly compatible service pistol. Worth a serious look next to the Glock 17/19 family.
